Making decisions can be intimidating and time-consuming.
- Mark out the parameters of the decision clearly: What choices do I have? Are there more than two?
- Gather as much information about each alternative.
- Get the experience that will help make an informed decision. For example, if
trying to decide whether to become a doctor or not, first volunteer at a hospital or clinic.
- Make a list of pros and cons for each decision.
- Prioritize which considerations are very important, and which are less so.
- Recognize that there are no right reasons for making a particular decision.
- The fact that a particular path is important to YOU, regardless of what others think, legitimizes it.
- Think honestly about any fears, motives or biases guiding thinking.
- Remember that God wants you to succeed so consider the alternatives that maximize the pros and minimize the cons!
- Put an end to information collection.
- Stop thinking that with more time and information,
you'll be able to make the perfect decision.
- No decision is perfect and all choices are made in a condition of some uncertainty.
- As soon as you make a decision, you will set the universe in motion. God
wants you to have faith in him and yourself. Self-doubt was instilled in
you, NOT by him but by other people sensing your greatness, wishing to
control you; because were you to succeed, they would feel worse about
themselves.
- Make the decision.
